Dr. Newberry will provide the latest updates on New World Screwworm, including current information from the FDA and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP). She will also discuss best practices for caring for the geriatric horse, covering common health concerns, management strategies, and ways to help senior horses thrive. About the presenter: Dr. Jessica Newberry grew up on her family farm in northwest Missouri, where her passion for animals began through showing horses and Angus cattle and competing in rodeo events. She studied Biochemistry at the University of Missouri before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and beginning her career in mixed-animal practice, serving a diverse clientele that included hunter-jumper operations.

After three years in clinical practice, Dr. Newberry transitioned into the animal health industry, where she has held a variety of leadership and technical roles. Her experience includes serving as Attending Veterinarian for a swine and poultry research facility, Canadian Business Unit Manager, Global Marketing Manager for Vaccines, and Associate Director of Marketing and Technical Services.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Newberry earned a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University and an MBA in Food and Agribusiness from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Today, Dr. Newberry serves as Managing Director of Modern Protein Partnership, where she brings together her veterinary, business, and agricultural expertise to advance the care of cattle and swine. Outside of work, she enjoys trail riding, camping, fishing, spending time with her family, and caring for her cattle.
